Strikers take the cautious route as home states COVID cases rise rapidly

Multiple Adelaide Strikers players have been asked to take extra precautions before tomorrow night’s Big Bash League game, after interaction with a casual contact of a positive COVID case.
It has been confirmed that three players from the Strikers squad of thirteen that flew in from Sydney this morning have been asked to separate from the rest of their teammates for parts of training.
While there was no wrongdoing by any party involved, the Strikers are taking the cautious approach of isolating the three players from the playing group, where possible, until they receive negative test results.
Current restrictions in South Australia state that casual contacts are not required to isolate after testing, and only close contacts must go into mandatory isolation.
SA Health has recently been inundated with COVID tests, and has so far failed to keep up with the rapidly evolving virus in its state after reopening borders.
Due to these extensive waiting times for those testing, there is now a chance that the interaction between some Strikers teammates at tomorrow’s game will look a little different than normal; should they have not received a negative test result in 24 hours’ time.

Testing in and around the Adelaide area has skyrocketed over the last few days, after a 19-year-old male went nightclubbing in Adelaide’s CBD - despite testing positive to COVID-19.
The troubled teenager's six-hour stint at nightclub ‘Loverboy’ has forced hundreds of people into isolation for Christmas, leaving the community and sporting franchises like the Strikers on high alert.
The Strikers last night lost in a close match to the Sydney Sixers by four wickets - leaving them with just one win from their first four games.
The individual efforts of second-gamer Thomas Kelly (41 off 34), star import Rashid Khan (3/20 off 4) and veteran Fawad Ahmed (1/16 off 4) were undone by some class Sixers batting and questionable captaincy from Strikers captain Peter Siddle.
The Adelaide Strikers take on the Brisbane Heat at Adelaide Oval tomorrow night at 6:45pm (ACDT).
